Monsters Case Study

Monsters Case Study

This case study shows the entire pre production process when making a film, the pre-production process is very important whilst making a film and failure to plan a film successfully can delay the release of a film hugely and could waste a lot of money and resources. I have researched this low budget film 'Monsters' to understand the different methods of producing a film and the pre production process compared to other types of film production, I did this because there are many ways and methods to producing a film so it is important for each film producer to find the right method for them to make the whole process much more productive and easier for them. I have presented this within a PowerPoint to categorize and organise the different elements of post production onto a different slide and go into detail on each, making it easier for me to understand the process. My different elements that I categorized were context, plot summary, financing, logistical considerations, regulatory requirements, pre production process, pre production documentation, evaluation of pre production and critical response. I have broken it into these elements in order to research and focus on each element separately and evaluate the importance of each one, to better understand the whole process and what is required/ included within each element. By completing the slide 'Evaluation of pre-production' it helped me to understand if a films pre-production process was successful and efficient or if they wasted money and resources, next I could evaluate what the film producer did wrong so that I do not make the same mistake as them. By researching different methods of preproduction processes it could affect your production because you will understand the importance of each element and different ways in completing them in order to chose the best option for you.
