Shot List

Shot List

This piece of documentation is evidence of a shot list which all film makers create before they start filming. A shot list is a way of organizing the shots that need to be captured in an organised and efficient way. First, they separate the shots by what location they are going to be shot in. Next a film producer would group different shots into which are similar. This similarity is determined through things such as the cast needed, set, mise-en-scene, EXT and INT shots and if the shot needs to be captured in daytime or nighttime. They then use the shot list to capture all similar shots at the same time and one after another, this saves a lot of time. This is because they can create a certain set, create a certain mise-en-scene, makeup look and costume, capture all necessary shots and not have to create it all again. They can next move onto the next set of similar shots, without having to go back and forth between different actors, re-creating sets and mise-en-scene, etc. I have completed my shot list as a table because it is efficient and easy to read. It displays all information needed in an organised and simple way, whilst still giving detailed information about the shots. This shot list will impact my final production because an efficient and organised shot list will save me time whilst filming because I won't have to struggle to find to information about the shots and all similar shots are already in order. Whilst filming, I can just follow this list without worrying if I have forgotten anything. Moreover, if I had not created a shot list I could have forgot to capture certain shots or wasted time switching between different actors, re-creating sets and mise-en-scene or moving equipment if I realize that I forgot to capture a shot. If this did happen, and I did forget shots them my production could run over schedule and the release of my film could be delayed. My shot list is industry standard and compares to professional models of practice as most film producers would organise my shots the same way that I have and include the same amount of detail. However, a film maker producing a full length film would have a lot more shots than me and possibly more locations than me.
