Location Plan

Location Plan

This documentation shows evidence of a location plan. A location plan is used by film producers when scouting for locations. It includes a list of all possible locations, how they would get permission from the landowner and if they have yet been granted permission. Most of the time, film producers request permission for multiple possible filming locations in case a location owner says no, or a certain location suddenly becomes unavailable whilst filming, leaving a film producer to possibly use a backup location. This documentation is useful because it is a good way to stay organised whilst scouting for possible locations as all options are in one place and your plan includes all the details that you need. If you create a plan, then as a film producer you get to make choices and decisions, rather than leaving your location up to chance. When choosing a location, a film producer should consider the amount of cast and crew they will have, if the location has enough space for the equipment needed, if it has access to parking/toilets/catering/electricity and if it suits the plans that the film producer has for the scene's mise-en-scene. I have completed my location plan as a table because it is efficient and easy to read. It displays all information needed in an organised and simple way. An organised and simple location plan will make the preproduction process much easier when choosing the right location for you. By choosing to create a location plan, my final production will be impacted because I will use this plan to help me decide the right locations for me to film in and also it allows me easily to check if I have permission to film in my desired locations. My final production could be very different depending on the locations I choose to film in. A location can affect the mise-en-scene, the filming process and the overall look of the scenes filmed in those locations.  My location plan is professional but not industry standard. This is because I have included all the relevant details about what I need to know when scouting for locations. However, my plan isn't industry standard because there isn't a right way to create a location plan and a lot of film producers do it differently.
