Genre Research

This PowerPoint presentation shows my research of 3 different genres of film within a wide variety of different genres, sub genres and film types. A film's genre is important and can influence a film in many ways, including the overall tone of the film, the mise-en-scene seen in a film, the characters displayed and what music would be incorporated within the film, etc. The genre of a film also impacts who the target audience for the film may be, what age rating the film will be or where that film would be played. For example, a documentary may be played in schools and a romantic comedy may be first played in cinemas. I chose to present to pros and cons of producing a film that reflects the crime genre, psych/thriller genre and the horror genre as they are all genres that I am interested in and also would suit the type of film that I want to create. I did this to better understand the different genres and why a producer may choose to portray them in a film or documentary depending on their goals that may be creative expression, money or reputation. I have presented this research in tables because it shows the research in an easy manner that you can understand and clearly presents whether the genres have more pros than cons and what those are. This is useful to me as it impacts what genre I chose to reflect in my film, through me considering the different genre's pros and cons and whether the cons are important or not. If there or more pros than cons or vice versa then it doesn’t necessarily mean that the genre is either bad or good because the cons may be more impactful, and the pros may outweigh the cons.

Production Log

Production Log This document shows evidence that I have completed a production log. This log is similar to a diary in by how I write in at different stages of my coursework.  I have completed a production log because it is a easy and simple way to keep track on my progress so far.  It is especially useful to monitor my progress. This is because I can read my production log at any stage in my coursework and make sure that I am staying productive with my time and not falling behind schedule. I can also use my production log as an evaluation of how successfully iv'e organised my time, if I have stayed productive, whether I understood the coursework and what I have done in the past that has been successful or unsuccessful. World War Z Case Study This case study shows the entire pre production process when making a film, the pre-production process is very important whilst making a film and failure to plan a film successfully can delay the release of a film hugely and could waste a lot of money and resources. I have researched this high budget film 'World War Z' to understand the different methods of producing a film and the pre production process compared to other types of film production, I did this because there are many ways and methods to producing a film so it is important for each film producer to find the right method for them to make the whole process much more productive and easier for them.
