Production Schedule

Production Schedule

This documentation shows evidence that I have completed a production schedule. A production schedule is a schedule of the whole preproduction and post production process. It is the timetable for the use of resources and processes required by film-makers to produce the final product. Typically the producer manages the production schedule and will modify it during the course of the production, to accommodate resource changes, to reduce costs, and to increase overall production efficiency.  It includes in order the things that need to be completed for the production of the film and by what date. Typically, a film producer would include the target completion date for each task and the date that they actually completed this task. A production schedule helps the production of a film to stay organised, on schedule and productive, whilst also monitoring any changes that need to be documented.  I have completed my production schedule as a coloured chart so that I can easily see the progress of the production at each stage by looking at the coloured cell shading. A straight sloped line would indicate a steady and consistent progress but however, that is not the case most of the time because you can not always predict how long or little time a task will take. This production schedule impacts my final production because it is a way of checking at any point in time if you are behind or ahead of schedule, this is important because as a film producer you do not want the release of your film to be delayed. It also allows you to see how long you should be spending time on each task and what task you should do after each one, this all ensures that you are making enough progress to stay on schedule and ensure that your film is ready to be released when you want it to be. My production schedule is professional and organised, only including relevant detail. However, it is not industry standard because there isn't a particular way or method to create a production schedule. What a production schedule looks like largely depends on who is making it and what style/ format would be most beneficial and easy to understand for them. It can be as detailed and colorful as each film producer wants it to be.
